Why We Service Redcliffe
The Redcliffe peninsula has a lot of what fire ants like: warm subtropical weather, sandy soils, and plenty of open lawn, parkland and foreshore reserve. As fire ants have pushed north into the Moreton Bay region, the peninsula's homes, parks and public spaces have become places where an early response really matters.
Redcliffe is also changing. Renovations, new units and townhouses, and relaid gardens and lawns all bring soil, turf, mulch and plants onto the peninsula, and fire ants travel in all of them. A nest that arrives with a pallet of turf can be established in a backyard before anyone notices.
The places people enjoy most on the peninsula, from beachfront parks and playgrounds to school ovals and sports fields, are also where stings happen. Fire ants swarm when their nest is disturbed and sting repeatedly, and children playing barefoot are among the most likely to be hurt.
We service homes, unit complexes, schools, sports clubs and businesses across Redcliffe and the surrounding Moreton Bay suburbs, including North Lakes, Deception Bay and Mango Hill. We also work with strata managers and body corporates, where shared lawns and gardens mean one nest quickly affects everyone.
If you have found a suspected nest in Redcliffe, report it within 24 hours, then give us a call and we will arrange an inspection and treatment.
More On Redcliffe
Redcliffe has a long history as the site of Queensland's first European settlement in 1824, and today it is a well established coastal community with a mix of older homes, units, parks and a busy foreshore. Many properties have mature gardens and lawns, and many are being renovated or relandscaped, which is when fire ants are most likely to arrive.
If you think you have fire ants, here is what to expect when you call us.
First, we inspect. A licensed technician checks your lawn, garden beds, paths, fences and the edges of the property, confirms whether the ants are fire ants, and finds every active nest. Getting the identification right matters, because the treatment and the legal obligations for fire ants are different from those for common ants.
Then we treat. Active nests are treated with direct nest injection, which delivers a registered product into the mound and its underground chambers and kills the queen and the colony at the source. Activity usually drops within days. Where there are several nests or a large area, we add baiting, which worker ants carry back to the colony over the following weeks.
Finally, we check and record. We confirm the treatment has worked and give you a record of what was found and treated, which is useful if you are selling or managing a complex.
Reporting is a separate step. Suspected fire ants must be reported within 24 hours under the Biosecurity Act 2014, and the National Fire Ant Eradication Program takes those reports. We are a private, licensed business, not part of the program, and we work to your timeline.
